Legislative economic development committee will study green jobs

A legislative committee will meet in Vancouver Thurs., July 10 to learn how job opportunities related to renewable energy, or “green” jobs, are growing in the Evergreen State.

The three-hour meeting of the Legislative Committee on Economic Development and International Relations, chaired by Lt. Gov. Brad Owen, begins at 9 a.m. at the Vancouver Hilton.

Presenters from business and industry, academia, government and finance will give their perspectives on strategies, industry trends, legislation and opportunities within the green economy.

The committee includes six members from the House and six from the Senate. Its purpose is to study and review economic development issues of importance to Washington.
