The Edison Community Action Team will host a community cleanup from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 26 in the Edison Elementary School parking lot, 5830 S. Pine St. This effort is a part of the Edison partnership with the City of Tacoma’s Community Based Services program.
The cleanup is an opportunity for only those Edison residents, businesses and property owners within the boundaries of South 56th to 66th and South Oakes to Washington streets.
Items such as trash, televisions, yard waste, blackberry bushes, appliances, tires and metals will be accepted. Shredding on-site with be provided by LeMay Mobile Shredding, including a limit of three grocery bags per household or business with the donation of one can of food per grocery bag for the local food bank. Commercial garbage, food waste, hazardous waste, hot water heaters, sod, dirt or concrete will not be accepted.
Attendees will need to provide a driver’s license or a utility bill as proof of residency. Commercial property or business owners can provide utility bills or business licenses and vacant lot owners can show property tax records.
For large items that can’t be hauled, contact the Citys Call-2-Haul program at (253) 573-2468 to see if you qualify. Expect a two-week wait for scheduling a Call-2-Haul pick up. Hazardous waste, including chemicals, pesticides, motor oil and paint, can be taken free of charge to the Hazardous Waste Facility at the Tacoma Landfill, 3510 S.
