Departing Pierce County Councilmember Goings to join credit union advocacy group

Pierce County Council member Calvin Goings announced today he will be re-joining the Washington Credit Union League (WCUL) as Senior Policy Advisor to the president, focused on business and community outreach.

Goings will return to the League offices in January after concluding his eight years of service on the Pierce County Council. He also served a past term as a Washington state senator. In this capacity, Goings will support WCUL’s President and CEO John Annaloro in promoting credit unions.

Goings served as the Executive Director to the Washington Credit Union Foundation for three years before being elected as a Pierce County Council member in 2000. During his eight years in office he served as the council’s vice chair and as executive pro tempore, and for seven of those years he chaired the Community Development Committee, which focused on land use and planning. This year, Goings ran for Pierce County executive. State Rep. Joyce McDonald (25th Legislative District) was elected in November to fill Goings’ seat.
