CRBS wins Tacoma Rotary's 'Employee of Year'

Cascade Regional Blood Services (CRBS) was recently presented with the prestigious “Employer of the Year” Award given annually by Tacoma Rotary Club #8 to businesses and organizations that best exemplify the principles of Rotary.

“We are very pleased that our employees have been so honored,” said Charles Drummond, Executive Vice President for CRBS, in accepting the award.

“We believe the strong support of the mission of the blood bank by our employees and by the unions of the Pierce County Central Labor Council plays a large part in our continuing success.”

Competition for the award this year in the “Small, Non-Profit Employer” category came from The United Way of Pierce County, The American Red Cross – Pierce County Chapter, and TAPCO Credit Union.

Members of the nominating committee who visited the blood bank came away impressed with the staff and mentioned that the blood bank employees really exemplified the spirit and goals of Rotary International’s theme — “Service Above Self.”

One of the members of the nominating committee who visited the blood center mentioned that she felt the staff at CRBS was very friendly and helpful.

“We are touched to be honored and recognized for the many contributions of our staff as we work with local volunteer donors in meeting the needs of patients throughout this area,” said Drummond.

“This award is much appreciated and will be an inspiration to us as we continue in our community service.”
