On Sat., Aug. 18 from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m., construction is scheduled to take place at the Pantages Theater, located at the intersection of South 9th Street and Broadway in downtown Tacoma. As part of the city’s Americans With Disabilities Act upgrades, concrete will be pumped up to the doorway at the top of the Pantages Theater’s fire escape. This is required to get concrete into the third floor balcony. There will be concrete trucks, a concrete pump truck and a large light pole staged in one of the southbound lanes on Commerce Street, and traffic will be reduced to one lane. The date and time were selected to accommodate the Tacoma Link light rail schedule.
