City Council members are scheduled to hear a presentation by Dr. Art Jarvis, Tacoma School District Interim Superintendent, about closing the achievement gap through complementary learning during the March 18 study session. In addition, members of the Council’s Health Benefits Committee will present their summary of findings regarding Ordinance No. 27675, which would make Council Members eligible to participate in the City’s medical and dental program on the same terms as full-time City employees. Under other items of interest, Tacoma Police and Human Rights and Human Services Department staff are scheduled to provide an update on the City’s gang and youth violence prevention initiatives.
The Council will not take public comment during the noon study session in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16. Audio from the session will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and on tvtacoma.com. On-demand audio archives are available on the Web within 24 hours of the meeting at http://www.tvtacoma.com .
