Commerce invites public comments on draft Washington State guidebook on military and community compatibility

State provides multiple ways to give feedback during 30-day comment period ending April 30

The Washington State Department of Commerce invites input during a 30-day comment period ending April 30 on a draft technical guide about land use planning and coordination surrounding military installations. The guidebook promotes awareness and information exchange about the importance of coordinated civilian-military planning processes. It offers information for interested readers with technical resources for planning professionals.

The draft guidebook reflects valuable input from community workshop participants, technical focus groups and a stakeholder advisory committee. Feedback during the 30-day comment period will influence revision for a final version of the guidebook that Commerce will publish this summer.

MAKERS Architecture and Urban Design LLP, an independent consulting firm, helped Commerce with community outreach in 2018 and with producing this draft guidebook.
