City's Landmarks Preservation Commission seeks member

The Tacoma City Council invites qualified individuals to apply for the At Large position on the Landmarks Preservation Commission.

The At Large position is open to Tacoma residents who have a demonstrated interest and familiarity with basic historic preservation issues, either through professional practice or volunteer work.

The appointee will serve the remainder of a vacant, unexpired term that ends Dec. 31, 2009. To apply, submit your application no later than May 22. The Landmarks Preservation Commission oversees the establishment and regulation of landmarks, landmark sites and historic districts. Commission meetings are at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.

The Commission is comprised of 11 citizen volunteers who serve three-year terms. The Council Appointments Committee recommends appointments and the City Council confirms them. For more information, visit http://www.tacomaculture.org .
