The City of Tacoma and various neighborhoods have partnered to schedule a number of cleanups for August. Homeowners and renters in single-family and duplex residences in these areas are encouraged to unload unwanted items for free. The schedule for cleanup events is Sat., Aug. 11, North Slope Historic District at Jason Lee Middle School, 602 N. Sprague Ave., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Sat., Aug. 18, South Wapato / Shaska / Birney-Baker at South Lakeshore Christian Church, 1740 S. 84th St., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sat., Aug. 25, Ferdinand / Orchard Glen / South Montgomery / Oak Tree Hill / Arlington at Mount Tahoma, 4634 S. 74th St., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All that is required to dump in eligible neighborhoods is a proof of residence such as a driver’s license or current utility bill.
