City of Tacoma and Port of Tacoma officials will mark the completion of the Port of Tacoma Road Reconstruction Project during a public celebration in December.

The six-month, $9.2 million project began this summer on a 7,800-foot stretch of Port of Tacoma Road, the major arterial that serves Port activities and operations. According to City and Port officials, the road needed to be rebuilt by replacing existing asphalt pavement with concrete in order to withstand the heavy-haul traffic that travels along this corridor. The project also included new sidewalk segments and traffic signals.

According to information included in Tacoma City Manager T.C. Broadnax’s most recent weekly report to Tacoma City Council, a public celebration to mark the completion of the Port of Tacoma Road Reconstruction Project will be held on Weds., Dec. 16, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., at the Fabulich Center, located at 3600 Port of Tacoma Road, in Tacoma.
