TPU planning highlights
A status report on Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU) facilities planning is on the agenda for the City Council study session. The update is scheduled to include a presentation about the proposed Tacoma Water Headquarters Building and the facilities remodel of the TPU administration complex. The report will also include a description of the process to date, project justification, schedule, estimated costs and the proposed next steps. The study session agenda may also include discussion of the City Manager selection process.

Special $32.975 million bond sale
The City Council will convene a special meeting Aug. 10 at 12:30 p.m., interrupting its normal study session, to consider the sale of $32.975 million of revenue bonds. The sale would refinance costs of acquiring land and the construction of the Greater Tacoma Convention Center, as well as a renovation of public parking facilities in downtown Tacoma. The council is hearing this issue at a special meeting timed to coincide with the financial markets in New York.

The public may attend the study session, but the council will not take public comment. CityPost (Channel 85 on Click!, Channel 77 on Comcast) will air the audio portion of the study session live.

Multi-family housing tax exemption
The City Council will consider authorizing a multi-family housing limited property tax exemption for a condominium development. The development would allow construction of approximately 100 new market-rate condominiums located between 212 and 220 Stadium Way in a project expected to cost developers approximately $18.5 million. Time will be set aside for public comment.
