1. $5.5 million from state could help replace section of Puyallup River Bridge
A section of the Puyallup River Bridge would be replaced if the City Council approves a resolution Nov. 23. If approved, the City would receive a grant of $5.541 million from the Washington State Department of Transportation for replacement of a 196-foot section of the Puyallup River Bridge, which is an extension of Puyallup Avenue east from Portland Avenue. The entire bridge is approximately 2,500 feet long.

2. Council to hold public hearing on budget
Share your 2005-2006 biennium budget ideas and suggestions with the Council at the Nov. 23 City Council meeting. The budget hearing is scheduled for approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, on the first floor of the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St.

3. UW Tacoma, City parking improvements highlight study session agenda
City Council members will hear a preliminary report on the University of Washington Tacoma and how it can best meet educational and economic development needs in the South Puget Sound region during their Nov. 23 noon study session. The Council will also discuss needs for improvements at the City’s North and South Parking Garages downtown. The public may attend the study session in Room 16, Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., but the Council will not take public comment. CityPost (Channel 85 on Click!, Channel 77 on Comcast) will air the audio portion of the study session live.

4. No garbage, recycling or yard waste service on Thanksgiving Day
Tacoma Solid Waste Management will not pick up garbage, recycling or yard waste on Thanksgiving, Nov. 25. Customers whose garbage, recycling and yard waste is normally picked up on Thursday will have a Friday pickup. Friday customers will have collection on Saturday. All other collection days are on their regular schedule. The City of Tacoma’s landfill, recycling center and household hazardous waste facility will close on Thanksgiving Day only. 5. City offices closed Nov. 25-26 for Thanksgiving holiday
City of Tacoma administrative offices will close Thursday and Friday, November 25 and 26 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
