1. Resolutions could give limited tax exemption for 22 apartment units

City Council members are scheduled to consider two resolutions May 10 that would allow multi-family housing limited property tax exemptions for two townhouse style apartment developments. One resolution is for a 12-unit apartment development at 1614 E. 34th St. in the Lower Portland Avenue Mixed-Use Center and the other is for a 10-unit apartment development at 4023 S. Puget Sound Ave. in the Tacoma Mall Mixed-Use Center.

2. Ordinance would place moratorium on permits for group homes

The City Council is scheduled to hear the first reading of an ordinance May 10 that would place an immediate moratorium on the establishment or acceptance of land use permit applications for group homes, group residential facilities and emergency and transitional housing for the next 365 days. If approved during final reading at a future meeting, the ordinance would set July 12 at approximately 5:30 p.m. as the date for a public hearing on the moratorium.

3. Puyallup Tribe of Indians may name bridge over Lister Gulch

Members of the City Council are scheduled to consider a resolution May 10 that would name the new bridge over Lister Gulch on East 32nd Street as “Ke-lah-bid,” as proposed by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. The name is a Puyallup word the tribe traditionally used to describe the creek that flowed through Lister Gulch, and it means “place where the salmon eggs are stored.”

4. Public can comment on City Manager finalists
