Tacoma City Councilmembers are scheduled to review recommendations today that would direct federal funding for organizations that provide community development and emergency services in Tacoma.
According to information prepared by the City’s Human Services Commission (HSC), and shared with City Council’s public safety and human services committee earlier this month, one recommendation calls for $397,202 in federal funds to be shared by 17 local human service agencies in the form of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG). Another recommendations calls for $120,484 in federal funds to be shared by 10 local agencies in the form of Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG).
The commission reviewed 32 applications from programs requesting more than $1 million, and recommended funding for the top 20 scoring programs.
