Affordable housing, Bates board appointments announced

1. Board of Trustees, Bates Technical College

Carolyn Lake of Tacoma was reappointed to term effective April 7, 2005 and ending September 30, 2007. Lake is an attorney with The Goodstein Law Group. Previously she served as Special Deputy Prosecutor for King County and is a member of the District and Municipal Court Judges Association, as well as several other organizations. Lake is a graduate of the U.P.S. Law School and the University of Washington. She replaces Lyle Quasim. Bates Technical College Board of Trustees is the governing board for one of the state’s 30 community and technical college districts.

2. Affordable Housing Advisory Board

Paul Purcell of Seattle has been appointed to a term effective April 8, 2005 ending in January 26, 2009. Purcell has worked in affordable housing for 22 years. He is the President of Beacon Development Group, a company providing development, consulting, and planning services for non-profit and church-based affordable housing. Before starting Beacon Development Group, he worked for 17 years as the head of Housing Development for Catholic Community Services and the Archdiocesan Housing Authority. The Affordable Housing Advisory Board serves as principal advisory body to the Department of Community Trade and Economic Development on housing and housing-related issues.
