Council members are scheduled April 17 to hear a resolution that would authorize an agreement with the Northwest Leadership Foundation in the amount of $84,417, from the General Fund, to implement the Youth Assessment and Resource Center (Youth ARC). The goals of the Youth ARC are to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency and to reduce the use of secure detention without increased risk to public safety. Council members are also scheduled to consider a resolution April 17 that would authorize a contract with the Tacoma-Pierce County Employment and Training Consortium for $310,581, from the Youth Building Tacoma fund, for the implementation of the Youth Building Tacoma comprehensive job training and pre-apprenticeship program. The program will train and employ young adults 18 to 24 years old with an emphasis on those at the Renewal Community/Community Enterprise Zone, specifically for those transferring from welfare, women and minorities, and those with limited English speaking skills.
