“The World Trade Center Tacoma is seeking nominations for its Seventh Annual Globe Award and the Third Annual Marco Polo Award.The Globe Award is designed to honor a business or individual that has contributed to the communitys international status through trade participation. WTCT is now seeking nominations for the 2000 Globe Award recipients. Nominations are to be judged by the following criteria:- Expanding the communitys trade capacity through jobs or revenue.- Building the communitys international status.- Participation in trade and culture exchange.- Heightening community awareness of the importance of international trade.- Being a publicly recognized role model.The Marco Polo Award is created to recognize a small or medium-sized business for first time success and accomplishments in international trade, to be acknowledged in a given year. Criteria for the Marco Polo Award are:- Beginning importer or exporter.- Small or medium-sized business.- First time international trade success in 1999.- Continuing engagement in international trade.The independent selection committee for 2000 Globe Award and Marco Polo Award will be comprised of community and business leaders. All nominees will be acknowledged.The award winners will be presented by leaders in government or the international trade community at the World Trade Centers Annual Awards Dinner later this winter.Information and nomination forms are available by calling the WTCT at 253-383-9474.”
