WSA merges to expand telecom reach

The WSA, the state’s oldest and largest technology trade association with over 1,100 members representing a range of software, Internet, telecommunications, and technology companies announced its merger with the nonprofit telecommunications trade association TCA Northwest.

The merger enables the WSA to extend its reach further into the telecom sector as well as increase the depth of its public policy and regulatory positions affecting the telecom and wireless industries in Washington state.

“Having TCA Northwest as part of the WSA family allows us to serve an important segment of the technology industry – telecommunications,” stated Kathy Wilcox, president & CEO of the WSA.  “The TCA’s educational programs will be a valuable addition to our special interest group (SIG) offerings, and our merger also enables the WSA to step up its advocacy efforts on telecommunications policy.”

The former TCA Northwest was a national not-for-profit trade association.  Its focus is on providing education and networking opportunities for IT and telecom industry executives. Operating since 1972 as a regional association, it will now serve its WSA members by identifying business solutions, monitoring and affecting legislative and regulatory issues in the telecom industry, influencing technology developments, and providing professional skill development.
