A dispute between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) 23 at the Port of Longview has shut down operations at the Port of Tacoma, according to a statement released Thursday afternoon by Port officials. “The Port of Tacoma is currently experiencing a longshore work stoppage,” read a statement on the Port of Tacoma’s Web site ( http://www.portoftacoma.com/closure ). “We understand similar actions have been taken by longshore workers at other West Coast ports. ILWU Local 23 is not working at the Port of Tacoma this morning. Trucks are not delivering or picking up cargo at Port marine terminals. No ships at the Port are being impacted by this situation for now. We are not sure how long this situation will continue. This page will be updated as more information becomes available.”
