Downtown supermarket open for business

The doors of Tacoma City Grocer IGA, downtown Tacoma’s new urban, full-service supermarket, opened Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. The 16,000-square-foot store, located at 1250 Pacific Ave. in Pacific Plaza, offers groceries, produce, fresh meat, a full-service deli and bakery, wine and beer, and floral and catering services. The store employs approximately two-dozen people and is owned by Whidbey Island-based The Myers Group, which owns and operates grocery stores in Ocean Shores, on Camano Island, and in downtown Seattle.
