Members of the City Council are scheduled to consider a resolution May 13 that, if approved, would authorize an agreement with the Metropolitan Park District for $100,000 — to be deposited into the Paths and Trails Reserve Fund — for construction of the first phase of the Historic Water Ditch Trail through the South Park neighborhood. The Historic Water Ditch Trail project seeks to restore approximately 3 miles of the historic “Flume Line” property generally located along the South Tacoma Way and Clement Avenue corridor between the City Center and South 80th St., and construct 3.5 miles of non-motorized accommodation generally along South Tacoma Way from S. 47th St. to Pacific Avenue for non-vehicular transportation and recreational purposes.
