Commissioners are scheduled during their regular meeting March 20 to consider adding $60,000 to extend the Barney & Worth contract to provide community outreach through June to coincide with the extended date of the interlocal agreement between the ports of Olympia and Tacoma to explore the feasibility of a regional logistics center. The community outreach contract calls for the communications firm to maintain an informational website on the proposed logistics center, develop other informational materials, coordinate meetings with the public and other stakeholders and assist with responses to comments, inquiries and requests for information about the project. Commissioners amended the original $100,000 contract in December to add $40,000 to cover additional outreach through March. This amendment, bringing the total value of the contract to $200,000, would provide Port staff with support through June to continue active communications and outreach, and to share the results of the January and February meetings with the community.
