Secretary of State Sam Reed announced Monday that his office will award $9,841 to the Fife Records Department to allow staff to microfilm and digitize minutes, ordinances and resolutions from 1957 to 2006.
“Washington’s overall grant program for our cities, counties and state is fundamental,” said Reed. “This money helps preserve vital records on a wide range of issues and gives access to citizens. It preserves documents for countless generations.”
The Washington State Archives Local Records Grant Program, a program within the Secretary of State’s Office, awards grants to local cities and agencies to provide public access to historically significant records and to ensure their long-term preservation.
For the 2007-2009 cycle, the Local Records Grant Program will award a total of $900,000 in grants to local government agencies across Washington. For more information about the Washington State Archives Local Records Grant Program visit secstate.wa.gov/archives/lrgp.aspx.
