Tacoma Fire hosts remembrance ceremony Sept. 11

On Sept. 11, the Tacoma Fire Department will honor the heroes and victims of 9/11 at a public remembrance ceremony held at the Firefighter’s Memorial located at 3301 Ruston Way. This year marks the eighth anniversary of this tragic day. The remembrance ceremony starts at 9 a.m. with a prelude at 8:45 a.m.

This event will be part of a nationwide salute to firefighters, police, Emergency Medical Services workers and civilians who lost their lives that day. The program will include speeches by Mayor Bill Baarsma, Tacoma’s Deputy Fire Chief Jolene Davis and retired Tacoma Fire Battalion Chief Dave Jackson. There will also be performances by the Honor Guard and Pipes and Drums.
