Tacoma Art Museum expansion opens to public Nov. 16

Tacoma Art Museum’s $15.5 million expansion project will open to the public in November, museum officials announced Tuesday. Construction began last November on the Haub Family Galleries, a new 16,000 expansion wing that will provide a home for the Haub Family Collection of Western American Art, double the museum’s gallery space, provide greater art experiences for visitors, and increase the museum’s presence in downtown Tacoma. The building expansion project’s team includes Olson Kundig Architects, Murase Associates, Sellen Construction, and Bonewitz Project Leadership. Museum officials plan to celebrate the grand opening by hosting a series of special events leading up to the public opening day on Sun., Nov. 16, including a Gala on Fri., Nov. 14, and a Members-Only Day and Evening celebration on Sat., Nov. 15.
