EDB picks Top 10 Tacoma, Pierce County projects

The Tacoma-Pierce County Economic Development Board has announced its annual list of Top 10 economic development projects and investments.

The list includes Amazon.com‘s announcement that it plans to build an $80 million, one-million-square-foot fulfillment center in DuPont that will employ 350 people; construction of Carlisle Construction Materials new 42-acre facility in Frederickson; Coordinated Care‘s decision to headquarter 100 employees in downtown Tacoma; SAFE Boats International’s announcement it will build five Navy patrol boats at a Port of Tacoma facility; the ongoing development of Point Ruston; 100 employees headquartered at EnCon in Frederickson; the Grand Alliance of major shipping lines at the Port of Tacoma; Tacoma Art Museum‘s plan to receive a significant collection of Western art from German billionaire Erivan Haub; major health services projects, including a new 55,562-square-foot health sciences facility (pictured) under construction at Clover Park Technical College and Tacoma Community College‘s Harned Center for Health Careers; and major infrastructure projects, including Sound Transit’s expansion of Sounder Commuter rail to Lakewood and the rehabilitation of Tacoma’s Murray Morgan Bridge.

The list was announced Friday during the Tacoma-Pierce County Economic Development Board’s annual meeting at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center in downtown Tacoma.
