Health care company picks downtown Tacoma for corporate HQ

Coordinated Care, a managed care company and subsidiary of St. Louis-based Centene Corporation, announced Monday it has finalized its choice to move its company headquarters to downtown Tacoma.

The company is one of five serving Washington State’s Medicaid Healthy Options and Basic Health enrollees. Coordinated Care began serving its members on July 1 in temporary offices and recently relocated its 100-person staff to its permanent space the Tacoma Financial Center building, located at 1145 Broadway. The company plans to host a grand opening on Thurs., Jan. 31.

“I am very pleased to welcome Coordinated Care to Tacoma,” said Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland. “Their innovative approach and commitment to community support and participation makes them exactly the type of employer we want to attract to our city. Their decision to choose Tacoma over other cities is a strong indication that Tacoma is not only open for business, but more importantly, a great place to do business.”

“We are very excited to be based in downtown Tacoma,” said Jay Fathi, M.D., President & CEO of Coordinated Care. “The combination of Tacoma’s skilled workforce, affordability, and its wide range of amenities is a huge plus for our company and our employees. We are especially thankful for the work of Mayor Strickland, the Pierce County legislative delegation and the Economic Board for working with us to establish our business in this community.”
