Members of the City Council are scheduled Feb. 19 to hear the final reading of an ordinance that would adopt definitions and standards for noise regulation; adopt or amend the enforcement provisions; and would add a new chapter entitled “Noise Enforcement” to Title 8 of the Tacoma Municipal Code; and would amend other related chapters of the code. This ordinance is intended to apply to the control of noise originating from activity within the City limits. When developing the proposed ordinance, the State Noise Code, Pierce County Noise Code, Seattle Noise Ordinance and the noise codes of several other cities within Washington state, as well as cities outside of the state, were reviewed to learn how others have dealt with noise problems.
