Port of Tacoma hosts popular annual boat tour

Port of Tacoma visitors experienced a ship-side view of port activities on board a free, annual guided boat tour Aug. 28 during the Tacoma Maritime Fest. During the narrated tour down the Sitcum and Blair waterways, visitors saw ships and marine terminals up close, cruised under the world’s largest container cranes, glimpsed Port-constructed wildlife habitat and learned about some of the other Tideflats-based businesses that boost the region’s economy. Participants boarded a 400-passenger boat at Thea’s Park for the two-hour tour, and kids enjoyed activities such as coloring magnets, creating words with signal flags, and donning colorful temporary tattoos.
