Action on Ordinances
Proposal No. 2003-14, vacating a portion of an alley way located in the Northeast Quarter of Section 22, Township 20 North, Range 4 East, Willamette Meridian, in the Puyallup area.

Proposal No. 2003-36, vacating a portion of 26th Avenue East located in the Northwest Quarter of Section 35, Township 19 North, Range 3 East of the Willamette Meridian, in the Spanaway area.

Proposal No. 2003-37, adopting a new Chapter 2.85 of the Pierce County Code entitled “Key Peninsula Advisory Commission”; and establishing and creating a five-member land use advisory commission in the Key Peninsula community, to be known as the Key Peninsula Advisory Commission.

Action on Resolutions
Proposal No. R2003-41, requesting the County Executive to commission a study of the Pierce County job market and economy, including strategic opportunities for economic development, barriers to success and recommendations for change; and setting a reporting date.

Proposal No. R2003-42, declaring the intent to initiate a community plan for the Key Peninsula community, to be known as the Key Peninsula Community Plan; and requesting the County Executive to include funding for this community plan in the next annual budget.

Proclamations, appointments
Proposal No. R2003-34, proclaiming May 17 and 18, 2003, as “Pierce County Relay For Life Weekend” in Pierce County, Washington.

Proposal No. R2003-44, proclaiming the day of Saturday, June 28, 2003, as “Scottish Heritage Day” in Pierce County, Washington.

Proposal No. R2002-45, proclaiming June 25 through June 29, 2003, as “Clan Graham Days” in Pierce County, Washington.

Proposal No. R2003-43, confirming the appointment of one new member to the Parkland Area Advisory Commission. (Marlys Nesset)

Ordinances
Proposal No. 2003-25, ratifying the collective bargaining agreement reached with United Healthcare Workers, Local 1184, System Council No. 15, National Conference of Firemen and Oilers Service Employees International Union – Licensed Practical Nurses Unite; and amending the Pierce County Salary Classification Plan.

Resolutions
Proposal No. R2003-37, calling for an election on May 20, 2003, for the purpose of submitting to the affected voters the determination of whether or not certain territory that is in unincorporated Pierce County, located adjacent to the current city limits of Auburn, should be annexed to and become a part of the City of Auburn; and requesting that the prosecuting attorney write an appropriate ballot title.

– New procedures for ensuring safety in nightclubs and other venues for public assembly.

– Pierce County responds in the search for space shuttle debris.

The April 22, 2003, County Council meeting will be held in Council District No. 3, at 6 p.m., at Ballou Junior High School, located at 9916 – 136th St. E., South Hill. This meeting will be in lieu of the regular 3 p.m. meeting.
