As part of the Maritime Fest, there will be free Port of Tacoma Boat Tours providing a closeup look at the sixth-largest container port in the United States, on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Bring the whole family and cast off from Tacomas famous working waterfront aboard the comfortable Goodtime II.
Open house activities include maritime crafts and games for kids, demonstrations of cargo handling equipment by ILWU Local 23, and entertainment, food and face painting.
Tour times are 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., with boarding based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Visitors are urged to arrive 30 minutes prior to sailing times.
To get to the Port of Tacoma, from Interstate 5, take the Portland Avenue Exit. Head north to East 11th Street and take a right. Follow the Boat Tour signs to Terminal 7.
