City Council members are scheduled during the March 23 study session to hear a presentation from Community and Economic Development and Human Rights and Human Services staff regarding the deliberations on funding for the 2008-2009 Consolidated Plan Annual Action Plan and what recommendations the Tacoma Community Redevelopment Authority and Human Services Commission made for the allocation of those funds. Each year, the City receives federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnership (HOME) including American Dream Down Payment Initiative (ADDI), and Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds are to be used for housing, community and economic development activities and for human services, which is indicated in the Annual Action Plan to the Consolidated Plan.
As a second item on the agenda, members of Tacoma Fires staff will present the Hazard Mitigation Plan for the City; this plan allows the City to apply for disaster mitigation funds from the federal government.
The Council will not take public comment during the noon study session in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16. Audio from the session will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and on http://www.tvtacoma.com . On-demand audio archives are available on the Web within 24 hours of the meeting at http://www.tvtacoma.com .
