Calendar: Downtown to Defiance event set for Sunday

Saturday, Sept. 10 – Pierce County Parks and Recreation Touch-A-Truck events, featuring a variety of large trucks such as a fire truck, dump trucks, military trucks and buses, Sprinker Recreation Center (14824 C St. S., Tacoma), 10 a.m.-1 p.m., free, canned food donations for the food bank will be accepted. www.co.pierce.wa.us/index.aspx?nid=1274

Sunday, Sept. 11 – Downtown to Defiance (Tacoma waterfront roads closed to vehicle traffic), 9 a.m.-1 p.m., free. Course runs from Foss Waterway and Commencement Bay, from downtown at South 21st Street Park at the Foss Esplanade, along Dock Street, Schuster Parkway, and Ruston Way to the end of the Waterwalk near Point Defiance Park. www.DowntowntoDefiance.com
