WSDOT will pave rural state route stretch

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will pave an almost seven-mile section of State Route 165 in Pierce County this summer, according to a statement released yesterday by the transportation agency.

The project, which extends from Carbonado to SR 410 in Buckley, also includes a realignment of the SR 165/SR 162 intersection. Ultimately the project will result in a smoother ride for motorists and a safer intersection. Woodworth & Company, Inc. was awarded the project for $1.45 million, according to DOT planners.

The project is expected to start in June and be completed in 40 working days. Project impacts include daytime single-lane alternating piloted traffic control and nighttime flagger-controlled lane closures at the SR 410/SR 165 intersection.
