Hopefully you didnt get caught in yesterdays monster traffic jam on Interstate 5.
As many as 54 vehicles were involved in 16 different accidents on Interstate 5 near Tacoma yesterday afternoon, temporarily closing the freeway in both directions, snarling traffic for miles and sending 18 people to area hospitals.
The Washington State Patrol said the accidents between 34th and 84th streets involving anywhere from three to 12 vehicles each.
Fortunately, none of the injuries was life threatening.
Police blamed a sudden, heavy rain squall and glare from ensuing sunbreaks for the rash of accidents.
Just in time for rush hour traffic, the freeway reopened in both directions about 4 p.m.
