Washington State Fair, Sleep Country USA agree to naming rights deal

Washington State Fair officials announced Thursday the naming rights to the Washington State Fair Events Center’s ShowPlex exhibition center have been sold to Sleep County USA.

The 122,000 square foot facility in Puyallup opened in September 2006 and will now be called the Sleep Country ShowPlex for the next 10 years. The facility is booked most weekends throughout the year, and houses both private and public events. In 2012, the facility hosted 151 interim events, totaling 261 event days, and over 500,000 guests.

Sleep Country USA is the number one mattress retailer in the Pacific Northwest. The company was founded in 1991, and is employee owned, with over 80 locations in the Pacific Northwest.

The Washington State Fair is the largest fair in the Pacific Northwest. It started in 1900 in Puyallup, and welcomes over one million guests to the 17-day event every September.
