Sonja Hall and Erika Tucci have joined Tacoma Public Utilities’ Community/Media Services Office as community relations specialists. Hall will be responsible for external communications and Tucci will oversee the organization’s volunteer activities.

Hall, whose appointment began May 21, spent five years as communications manager for the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber and director of its Media Center. She is a graduate of the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary arts and sciences-mass communications. She also completed the Chamber’s Leadership Tacoma-Pierce County program and two years of Institute for Organization Management training through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Tucci will begin her new post on May 30. She has been a senior account executive for United Way of Pierce County and director of Project:U, a program to engage young professionals in philanthropy. She also worked as marketing coordinator for the Tacoma Dome for two years. Tucci graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a degree in economics.

In making the appointments, Chris Gleason, manager of the Community/Media Services Office, noted that both Hall and Tucci will bring communications skills and broad knowledge of the Tacoma-Pierce County community to their new positions.

Hall succeeds Sue Veseth, who will retire May 31 after 30 years with Tacoma Public Utilities, and Tucci succeeds Amy Garrigan, who is re-locating to Wisconsin after two years with Public Utilities.
