TV Tacoma wins four national programming awards

TV Tacoma, the City’s 24-hour government information channel, took home four national programming awards recently at the 22nd annual National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) video awards in Portland, Ore. NATOA is a national association that represents the communications needs and interests of local governments, and those who advise local governments.

The following programs received awards:

— First place, community awareness: “Baykeeper” produced by Lane Ficke; This story highlights the efforts of the non-profit organization Citizens for a Healthy Bay in helping Commencement Bay businesses maintain the environment.

— Second place, magazine format series: “CityScape”; this program has been a part of the TV Tacoma program schedule for over a decade and features notable people, places and activities in Tacoma.

— Third place, profile of a City/County department: “Josh Newman, CLICK! Network Community Volunteer,” produced by John Phillips

— Third place, documentary profile: “The Castle on the Hill,” produced by John N. Miller; This documentary told the architectural history of Stadium High School, the story of a century of student life and the impact of this unique school on the city.
