Rob Allen of the Pierce County Economic Development Division has been named the first winner of the John Cordrey Achievement Award from the Council for Community and Economic Research. The award was presented May 16 in Atlanta during the C2ER Annual Conference.
“This award recognizes a member who has shown outstanding direction in pursuit of his or her qualifications in the applied economic development field,” said Denise Dyer, division manager. “The recognition is well-deserved.”
In his role as economic development specialist, Allen assists small businesses, manages small community development business districts and develops county-wide research reports. He has worked for county for more than 10 years, serving in both the community development and economic development divisions. He holds a master’s degree in political science from Western Washington University.
The award is named for Dr. John Cordrey, a former CCER president who was a driving force within the organization in establishing training and a certification process now recognized nationally. He died in 2004.
