TCC's Lehrer receives Distinguished Citizen award

Griselda Babe Lehrer, Tacoma Community College Foundation Board member, has received a Distinguished Citizen award from the Municipal League of Tacoma-Pierce County.

Lehrer was chosen for her contributions to the community. In addition to her work on the Foundation Board, she serves on the board of the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, has served on the Tacoma Middle School Naming Committee, was the Marvin Klegman Memorial Fund Chair, has served on the MultiCare Health Foundation Board and was a member of the Museum of Glass Gala Planning Committee.

At Tacoma Community College, Lehrer has most recently been instrumental in raising funds for the First Generation Scholarship and has helped plan the college’s Foundation’s Tacoma Wine Classic fundraising event.

Lehrer, who formerly owned Lyon’s Apparel, has been recognized repeatedly for her contributions. She is also the co-author of “Mush On and Smile: Klondike Kate, Queen of the Yukon” and “They Just Don’t Get It.”

The Distinguished Citizen award was presented at a luncheon June 11.
