TCC celebrates fundraising success

A sell-out crowd of 240 people enjoyed the Sixth Annual Tacoma Wine Classic last month by celebrating Tacoma Community College’s 40th anniversary with 40 premium Washington wines.

Attendees enjoyed light hors d’oeuvres, wine tasting, a silent auction, a live auction, dinner and dancing in TCC’s Opgaard Student Center. Featured wineries included Woodward Canyon Winery, Wineglass Cellars, Seven Hills Winery, Alexandria Nicole Winery, Whitman Cellars, Red Sky Winery, Maryhill Winery, Hedges Family Estate, Page Cellars, Chandlers Ranch Vineyards, Fort Walla Walla Cellars and McGavick Winery.

Net revenues from the May 13 event totalled $65,000. Proceeds benefit the TCC Foundation, a non-profit corporation that accepts and administers philanthropic support for the college.

TCC Foundation resources support activities including student scholarships and grants; library and learning resources; international programs; employee professional development and awards; the TCC Children’s Center; academic and student programs; athletic activities; arts programs; and literacy and developmental education.

The Tacoma Wine Classic is presented by the TCC Foundation, and this year was co-sponsored by Simpson Tacoma Kraft Co., Columbia Bank, KI-Contract Furniture and Benchmark Event Equipment.
