Pierce County employees working at the County-City Building in downtown Tacoma took steps to reduce energy use last month by removing personal appliances, turning off lights, unplugging electronics, keeping windows closed, and turning off computer monitors. The building's windows were recently upgraded from original single-pane glass to an energy efficient double-pane, which reduces air leakage and allows for better temperature control inside the building.
