Tacoma's Innovative Grant Program now accepting applications

If you have a great idea to improve your neighborhood, you should consider applying for a 2012 Innovative Grant. Innovative grants are intended to assist and support neighborhood organizations within Tacoma’s eight Neighborhood Council districts to develop and implement small-scale physical improvement projects.

Projects need to be for beautification or physical improvement projects in the right-of-way (sidewalk, street or common areas) that benefit the community and are not for improvements to private property that increase value or for personal gain. If you are interested in learning more about the process, workshops are scheduled for April 4, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and April 12, 2012, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., 7th Floor.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. on April 27, 2012. Applications may be downloaded at http://www.cityoftacoma.org/neighborhoodcouncils or by email request to shari.hart@cityoftacoma.org or by calling (253) 591-5208. Applications are also available for pick up between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., 9th floor.
