Tacoma Rail wins national safety award

Tacoma Rail is a 2006 winner of the prestigious Jake Award, presented by the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association to recognize short line railroads with exemplary safety records.

The association presents Jake Awards to railroads that have not had an injury that required reporting to the Federal Railroad Administration, a lost workday or fatality during the year. Tacoma Rail Superintendent Paula Henry will receive the award at the association’s annual convention on Monday, April 24.

“Tacoma Rail employees have an enviable safety record, and deserve the recognition,” Henry said. “We continually demonstrate that we work safely and efficiently, which benefits our employees, the public, our customers and our community.”
