Tacoma offering traffic ticket amnesty

Just a reminder: In an effort to help citizens regain their driving licenses, Tacoma Municipal Court is offering a “collection amnesty program” throughout the month of October.

Designed to help those with outstanding traffic tickets and fines, the court and its collection agency have agreed to waive interest and collect costs on tickets currently in collection.

The program, which began Tuesday, runs through Oct. 31.

Those with outstanding tickets or fines should contact the court directly by calling 253/591-5357.

Clerks will also be able to provide names of other courts where fines may be outstanding.

Upon payment of the ticket in full at the Tacoma Municipal Court, 930 Tacoma Ave. S., Room 136, the adjudication slip provided must be delivered to the Department of Licensing to clear a driving record and obtain a valid driver’s license.
