Tacoma Mall site of safety fair events

Tacoma Mall will be hosting a day-long event supporting the efforts of local organizations and agencies on Saturday, June 15, in the mall’s south parking area, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pierce County and surrounding area residents are invited and encouraged to attend the variety of safety activities including the Washington State Traffic Commission’s Booster Seat Check and the Tacoma Police Department’s Bike Rodeo.

In conjunction with Tacoma Mall, various exhibitors, including Tacoma Power, the Coast Guard, Operation LifeSaver, the Humane Society and the ATF will have displays at the mall.

Tacoma Power will bring the “Barney” bucket truck for children to take rides in. Pierce County Transit will have a bus on hand for shoppers to tour and the local fire department will have a working fire truck on display. Weather permitting, kids will be invited to spray the water hose.

“We are excited about hosting these safety events at our mall that will help teach local residents about personal and community safety,” said Lynn Castle, Tacoma Mall marketing director.

“By supporting National Safety Month, we are able to deliver on our commitment to bring value-added experiences and community events to our shoppers.”
