Tacoma Goodwill Industries will celebrate the opening of two new stores later this month.
The new Federal Way Goodwill store, located at 32521 Pacific Highway South in the former Pep Boys location, is set to open on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The grand opening will take place at 9 a.m. with Mayor Jeanne Burbidge, Chamber of Commerce representatives and Tacoma Goodwill CEO Terry Hayes helping to cut the red ribbon.
Hundreds of dollars in prizes will be offered in a door prize drawing on opening day.
The Federal Way store is the first to showcase the new look of Goodwill, featuring updated décor, signage and layout.
The new facility will offer enhanced retail space, greater visibility and higher traffic count for Goodwill.
The existing store at 31014 Pacific Highway South will not close until the new store opens.
The hours will remain the same: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The new Gig Harbor Goodwill store will open Thursday, Oct. 17, at 4805 Pt. Fosdick Drive N.W., in the former Ben Franklin store location.
Mayor Gretchen Wilbert, Chamber of Commerce representatives and Hayes are ready to host the 9 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremonies to celebrate Goodwills first store in the Gig Harbor community.
Hundreds of dollars in prizes will also be offered in a door prize drawing on opening day.
The Gig Harbor Goodwill store will feature the new look of Goodwill, and a special VIP reception will be held the night before for local business leaders.
Store hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
We’re excited about opening our two new stores for several reasons, Hayes said. Weve had a lot of requests to begin serving Gig Harbor directly. We are looking forward to better serving our loyal customers in Federal Way. And, we are eager to introduce the new, updated décor which we are beginning to implement throughout our retail network. Shoppers are sure to enjoy their experience here.
Revenues from retail stores provide vocational services for people with disabilities and disadvantages such as welfare dependency, homelessness, and lack of education or work experience.
These education, job training and job development programs are funded primarily through the operation of Tacoma Goodwills 17 thrift stores throughout western and central Washington, as well as rehabilitation fees, financial gifts and grants.
