Tacoma Fire Dept. ceremony will remember 9/11

On Sept. 11, the Tacoma Fire Department will honor the heroes and victims of 9/11 at a public ceremony held at the Firefighter’s Memorial located at 3301 Ruston Way. This year marks the seventh anniversary of this tragic day.

The remembrance ceremony starts at 9 a.m. with a prelude at 8:45 a.m. The program will include speeches by Mayor Bill Baarsma, Fire Chief Ron Stephens and Firefighter Colin Sterr from New York City’s Fire Department. There will be a moment of silence and songs by the Tacoma Fire Department Pipers, a firefighter’s prayer/bell ceremony and the Tacoma Fire Department’s Honor Guard will also be present.
