Tacoma artist Lynn Di Nino will present a slide show, lecture, and gallery walk-through to discuss two exhibits — Riding the express bus Seattle/Tacoma and A Fable — currently on display at Tacoma Public Library’s Handforth Gallery.
Riding the express bus Seattle/Tacoma consists of 14 vignettes of three-dimensional 10-inch, wall-mounted figures seated next to photographs of landmarks Di Nino captured on her smart phone while traveling via Sound Transit’s Route 590/594 Express bus service. Di Nino and the exhibit were featured in the Tacoma Daily Index in June (see “Artist Lynn Di Nino’s creative commute,” Tacoma Daily Index, June 5, 2015; and “Tacoma Daily Index Top Stories — June 2015,” Tacoma Daily Index, July 1, 2015).
A Fable, which Di Nino curated, features more than two-dozen local artists who created their own figures inspired by the parable of the blind man and the elephant.
The presentation will be held on Weds., July 22, at 7 p.m., at Handforth Gallery, located at 1102 Tacoma Ave. S., in Tacoma. A few of the participating artists included in A Fable are scheduled to attend the event.
