Washington legislators are considering a plan for a statewide Web site for registered sex offenders.

Currently, only a few counties have Web sites that allow residents to find out if a sex offender lives in their neighborhood, and not all of those sites are updated regularly.

Supporters say a statewide Web site would ensure that residents have accurate, current information essential to their personal safety.
